Starting at $12,630, the Versa offers plenty of passenger room and a comfortable ride. The entry-level vehicle comes with air-conditioning, 4 speaker CD stereo and more. For a bit more you can upgrade to the SL trim which includes power windows, power locks, keyless entry, cruise control and MP3 capable stereo. The Versa is roomy even for a tall individual. It offers good gas mileage at 27/33 (city/highway), and earned the rating Good (best possible) for crash tests at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

2008 Nissan Rogue

The 2008 Nissan Rogue is a small crossover SUV that comfortably seats five. Two trim levels are available, S and SL, and, additionally, all-wheel-drive is available for each The S trim comes with keyless entry, 4 speaker CD stereo, air-conditioning and power accessories standard. Packages include items like a Bose system with a 6 CD changer that can play MP3s, steering whell paddle shifters, cargo cover, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats and a sunroof.

Besides all the amenities you can add to the Rogue, the small crossover is a nice drive, giving a true car-like experience. Though you're slightly higher in the Rogue than a typical car, the feel from Nissan's new SUV is significantly closer to a car's than a sport utility vehicle, something which many will find refreshing. Anyone looking for a spacious vehicle without the size of an SUV should consider the Rogue. It's attractive styling and ease of use make it a nice choice.

2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The Mazda Miata has always been about the enjoyment of the driving experience, and the 2008 MX-5 Miata is no different (though one might argue the retractable hard-top makes the driving experience even more enjoyable). Reviews and feature specs only tell you so much about a car, especially one like the Miata. You really need to get in and feel the drive to know what your getting with a car like this. The sports car is highly responsive, and the peppy engine has you begging for an open road at every stop-light.

The Miata seats two comfortably, and the trunk space is decent for a small sports car. The fuel economy is respectable as well at about 28 on the highway. Available options include a CD changer, keyless entry, stability control, sport-tuned suspension, Bose audio system, and my favorite the retractable hard-top.

2008 Mazda CX-9

It's tough to beat the Mazda CX-9 when looking for a seven passenger crossover SUV. That should be clear by it being award the 2008 Motor Trend Sport Utility of the Year award, but taking a closer look really distinguishes itself from the pack. The Mazda CX-9 looks great, but it takes more than good looks (inside and out) to win awards in the auto industry. The CX-9 sporty engine makes the vehicle not just a successful family carrier, but a blast to drive as well. The responsiveness and handling makes it feel more like you're driving the Mazda6 than a sport utility vehicle.

The 2008 Mazda CX-9 adds some horsepower and a blind-spot warning system. Standard you'll find antilock disc brakes and stability control, nice features for a vehicle you'll be using to get your family around town a to events. Other mid-size crossover SUVs say they seat 7, but the CX-9 means it. Getting into the third row doesn't require a can opener, and provides ample space, even for a tall individual. If you're looking to bring a number of packages home, the seats fold down providing more than 100 cubic feet of cargo space.

2008 Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is an economical small sport utility vehicle that holds up well against its competitors. It seats five passengers comfortably, and the unique "Drop & Fold" system opens the back up to allow for a significant amount of cargo space (66.6 cubic feet). The interior is designed for convenience, with cup holders in all 4 doors, a fully-reclining front passenger seat, the center console's height is adjustable, and standard are power windows and mirrors,

Safety is standard on the Kia Sportage, including antilock disc brakes, traction control, electronic stability and six airbags. Don't worry about adding options to ensure the safety of your family because it's built in. Road conditions are tackled well by the Sportage's optional 4WD, and the EX includes tire-pressure monitoring so you won't be surprised by a low tire.

Kia Spectra 5

The Kia Spectra offers a lot for your money. The handy 5-door vehicle may seem small, but on the inside is plenty of room for family and groceries. Though a hatchback and not a wagon, the storage room behind the back seats is surprisingly large. Fold the back seats down and you have a generous space to transport bigger items. There are other storage places throughout the vehicle, including in the center console and in the front doors (which also have cup-holders).

The ride and feel of the Kia Spectra 5 will not leave you unsatisfied. An in-dash CD changer will play your tunes as you easily zip through traffic with the 2 liter, 138 horsepower, engine without having to make many stops for gas. Add all the available options like the power sunroof and antilock brakes and you're still looking at a car under $19,000 that gets 33 MPG on the highway.

Also available on the Fusion is the Ford Sync, a voice-controled system for Bluetooth enabled gadgets like your MP3 player and cell phone. The Ford F-150 pickup offers so many options, there's an F-150 for everyone. This along with the easy ride and comfort has kept the F-Series trucks the best selling vehicle in America for the past 30 years. With an F-150 you'll get a comfortable, functional, cabin with plenty of storage. In a time when everyone wants to customize their vehicle, it may be surprising that the automobile that offers some of the most options is a truck (Ford's F-150). Personalization is possible right down to the gauges. Meaning you'll be sure the truck you purchase can handle the demands you make of it, while also providing you with the style you like both inside and out.

Standard are anti-lock brakes, and traction control is optional. The F-150 scored 5 stars (out of 5) in front impact testing from the NHTSA, and it received the highest rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in frontal-offset testing. With all F-150 trucks being comfortable for the driver and passengers, safe and enjoyable to drive, it's just a matter of choosing the options you need. If you're looking for a pickup for day-to-day endeavors like trips to the hardware store, or if you need maximum towing capacity, there's an F-150 for you.

For the safety-concious, the Ford Edge has anti-lock brakes, front side and curtain airbags and stability control.
